Sitaula tables final draft, CA to begin debate on Wednesday
KATHMANDU: Despite boycott by Madhes-based parties and sloganeering by the Constituent Assembly (CA) members of Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal, Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) Chairman Krishna Prasad Sitaula tabled the final draft of constitution at CA full house on Sunday evening.
After Sitaula tabled the report, the CA Chairman Subas Chandra Nembang called the CA meeting for 8 am on Wednesday, August 26.
The CA will begin discussions over the final draft at the next meeting.
During the meeting today, the RPP-N lawmakers had chanted slogans demanding that the constitution should ensure Nepal as a Hindu state.
Likewise, lawmakers from Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Democratic, Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal and Tarai Madhes Democratic Party, among some fringe parties, walked out of the meeting claimed that the statute draft could not address their concerns.
