KATHMANDU: Police on Friday arrested seven persons for allegedly trying to transfer the ownership of a plot of land illegally.

Officials said the suspects were caught red handed while trying to transfer the ownership of a land, which was in the name of a patient, Mangal Narayan Gwachha, 63, of Kirtipur, who had been admitted to Kathmandu Medical College, Sinamangal.

Officials said the suspects were caught while trying to transfer ownership of the land in the name of his four daughters and one son from the hospital bed. The arrestees are Sabina Gwachha, Arjun Saiju, Rajendra Kumar Dahal, Ratna Prasad Chhuchyachhi, Ramesh Pancha, Naresh Lohar and Shambhu Narayan Rajbhandari.

Gwachha was admitted to the hospital in critical condition and died while undergoing treatment. Of them Lohar works at the Land Revenue Office, Bhaktapur.
