Six child workers rescued from Bhaktapur brick kilns

BHAKTAPUR: At least six child workers were rescued and one of the gang leaders allegedly involved in employing them was arrested from Jayabarahi Brick Factory in Duwakot of Changunarayan Municipality here.

The rescued children were from 12 to 16 year old.

Police also arrested Lok Bahadur Nepali hailing from Jagar-5, Rolpa for recruiting children to work in brick kilns without informing their family members.

The victims were rescued by a team deployed from the Bhrikutimandap-based Children Search Centre of Nepal Police, in cooperation with Bhaktapur-based Metropolitan Police Range, the District Administration Office, the Women and Children's Office and other concerned agencies.

The Centre shared that the rescued children would soon be handed over to their respective families.
