Six killed in road mishap

Lalitpur, September 22:

Six people were killed and 31 injured when a bus heading to Lagankhel from Bhattedanda skidded off the road and fell some 300 metres down in Karki Gaon of Bhattedanda VDC-3 in Lalitpur today.

The deceased have been identified as Nirmala Adhikary, 20, of Bhattedanda-5; Bir Bahadur Pakhrin, 25, of Shikharpur-4, Makwanpur; Mingjung Bhujung Tamang of Gagate, Makwanpur; Durganath Ghimire, 40, of Ashrang-8, Lalitpur; Gyanu Timsina, 20 of Pyutar-8, Lalitpur and head constable of Nepal Police Krishna Prasad Ghimire, 35, of Harishiddi-7, Lalitpur.

SP at the Metropolitan Police Range Pashupati Upadhyay said the accident occurred due to slippery condition of the road.

While four died on the spot, Gyanu and Krishna died while undergoing treatment at Anandaban Health Centre in Tika Bhairab and in Patan Hospital, respectively. Thirty-seven passengers were on board.

According to the police, condition of five injured was critical. The injured are

being treated at Patan and B&B hospitals.
