‘Smart Dampati’ contest begins

Kathmandu, February 14

A ‘Smart Dampati’ contest was launched on the social networking site Facebook today.

The contest is part of the ‘Smart Jeewan’ campaign, which is being run under the leadership of the National Health Education Information Communication Center in coordination with Family Health Division and support from the USAID Health Communication Capacity Collaborative Nepal project.

According to a joint press statement issued by NHEICC and USAID, couples can participate in the contest by uploading their photographs on a Facebook application developed specially for this purpose.

‘Smart Dampati’ is a core theme of the “Parivar Niyojan, Smart Banchha Jeewan” family planning communication campaign of the Ministry of Health, which was launched on August 21, 2015.

“Building on this momentum, the special contest was beginning on the Valentine’s Day and ending in first week of Baishakh.

The main objective of the campaign is to encourage couples to participate and follow the SmartJeewan Facebook page, where they can receive information regarding family planning, which is provided periodically on the SmartJeewan Facebook page,” said the statement.

A Facebook user can access the application through their Facebook account after seeing the ‘Smart Dampati contest’ advertisement on their Facebook timeline.

This strategic initiative is aimed at repositioning family planning for the new generation and at increasing family planning method use among young married couples across the country.
