Army personnel today shot at a civilian for allegedly collecting donations. A resident of Birgunj, Bishal Sharma, presently living in a rented room near Ratopool, was shot at by Royal Nepali Army personnel this afternoon saying he was involved in forcefully collecting donations for the Maoists.

"Sharma was shot as he tried to flee when the security forces moved in to arrest him in front of Singhadurbar after they were informed that he was terrorising people," states a press statement issued by the Army Public Relations Directorate. Sharma is undergoing treatment at Birendra Hospital, Chhauni, and doctors are trying their best to save his life. Meanwhile, the directorate has appealed people to inform about the forceful collection of donations at the following numbers: 4220000 or 9841-217916 for Kathmandu Valley; and 98510-83288 or 98510-79917 for those outside the Valley. People have also been encouraged to approach the nearest security posts.
