Solidarity expressed with agitating doc

Kathmandu, January 30

Former chief justice Sushila Karki, youths and human rights activists today expressed solidarity with Dr Govinda KC’s demands.

The health condition of Dr KC is deteriorating. Doctors involved in the treatment of Dr KC said  he should be shifted to intensive care unit soon.

Dr KC is on hunger strike for the last 22 days at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.

According to Dr KC Pritam Subedi, an aide to Dr KC, doctors had advised shifting Dr KC to ICU. However, Dr KC has refused to be shifted to ICU.

Former CJ Sushila Karki visited Dr KC at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital to express solidarity with his demands. She also urged the government to address the demands of Dr KC.

Former CJ Karki said that the prime minister should implement the agreement with Dr KC.

“The demands of Dr KC are not for an individual, they are for all citizens,” she said and added that if the government failed to address Dr KC’s demands, the entire country would lose.

Two youths from Kailali today began a 72-hour fast-unto-death at Ratnapark to pressure the government to address Dr KC’s demands. Rights activists also staged protest rally in New Baneshwor in support of Dr Govinda KC.
