Kathmandu, January 5

The Special Court today sent suspended Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kiran Kumar Gautam into custody as he could not submit the bail amount.

As Gautam failed to submit the Rs 5 million bail amount, he was taken into custody at the Singha Durbar Ward Police Station. A three-member Bench comprising of judges Top Bahadur Magar, Govinda Prasad Parajuli and Bhoopdhoj Adhikary had imposed the bail amount.

Gautam, however, told the court that he would submit the bail tomorrow.

Gautam, one of the suspended SSPs on corruption charges, was produced today before the Special Court as per the warrant issued against him. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had ordered the Home Ministry to suspend Gautam last year.

Accusing him of amassing Rs 6.1 million illegally, the anti-graft body had filed a graft case against him on October 23.
