Staffers being monitored

KATHMANDU: Eight foreign staffers of CMC based in Nepal, including Project Manager Cristiano Greco, are under close police surveillance, police sources said. They are being monitored as per the request of the Ministry of Water Supply.

No one has been detained yet, according to Water Supply Ministry and police sources. For the moment, Italians will not be able to travel out of Nepal though. The ministry held a meeting with Italian officials on Monday afternoon. The ministry is expecting senior CMC officials to visit Nepal from Italy shortly to sort things out.

There are good chances that the company will review its decision to withdraw from the project, a close aide to the minister said. — HNS
