State can't offer allowance to all seekers: Minister Koirala
BHAKTAPUR: Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare Asha Koirala has said that the government cannot dole out allowances to all the seekers.
Speaking at a programme organised in Bhaktapur today, Minister Koirala said that the government cannot give allowances to all by reducing the capital budget.
"The government is giving social security allowance to the senior citizens. Now, different groups have been seeking allowance including unemployment allowance,” she said adding “The capital expenditure will finish if all the demanders were provided with allowance from the state coffer.”
This will hinder the country's development, stated Koirala.
Highlighting that the state should take responsibility of protection of the senior citizens, Minister Koirala made it clear that the government cannot increase the allowance to the senior citizens by two/three folds.
Meanwhile, the local body representatives and journalists were felicitated in the event.
