Statute-making soon: Nembang

Kathmandu, August 21:

Chairman of the Constituent Assembly Subas Chandra Nembang said today the CA would

start framing the constitution as soon as possible.

Several CA committees would be formed soon, Nembang said, adding that the formation of the committees would expedite the constitution-drafting process.

“We realise that the process of framing the constitution has been delayed,” he said at a programme organised by Parliamentary Journalists’ Forum.

Drafting the constitution and making the government accountable are two major tasks of the CA, Nembang said.

Appointment of the Prime Minister is a step towards framing the constitution, Nembang said, calling on the government to pursue consensus politics to frame the constitution.

Nembang said, “We can overcome challenges if we move ahead unitedly.” Due to several reasons, the CA secretariat has not been able to resolve problems that journalists have been facing in the process of covering activities of the parliament, he said.
