Student unions form joint task force
Kathmandu, April 22
Various student unions today formed a seven-member joint task force to study implementation of past agreements with the government and plan protest programmes.
A joint meeting of joint student unions yesterday had formed the taskforce with one representative each from all student unions. Spokesperson for Nepal Student Union Lekhnath Pokharel said, “We have started discussions on the implementation of 10-point agreement reached between 11-student unions and the Ministry of Education on April 19 last year.”
“The government implemented the free fixation directives but the private schools are not following it. Therefore, our task force will plan various protest programmes to pile pressure on the government to implement the directives strictly,” said Pokharel.
A joint meeting of the student unions held yesterday had given the task force five days to prepare its report.
Pokharel said the report will be presented at a joint meeting of student unions on April 25.
