KATHMANDU: Eight student unions said their attention had been drawn by the government's recent decision to phase-out Proficiency Certificate Level from Tribhuvan University.

Issuing a joint press statement here today, ANNFSU, NSU, ANNISU- Revolutionary, ANNFSU-Sixth, NSF, MSF, TMSF band ANNFSU-Unified -- student bodies affiliated with major political parties -- said they were forced to make decision on their own for the continuation of the PCL after the government failed to address the plight of tens of thousands of SLC graduates.

The Free Students’ Union will hand out admission forms in campuses throughout the country where PCL levels are being run. It will also establish coordination at the local level to urge the campus administration to start admission procedure.

"After our repeated calls to the government to annul its decision to phase out the PCL failed to yield any outcome, we felt that we should go us ahead with various decisions in the interest of students aspiring to join PCL," read the statement signed by leaders of the eight student orgnisations.
