Student unions urge NC Prez to support impeachment motion against Karki

KATHMANDU: Various student unions on Sunday urged Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba to support the impeachment motion registered against the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Chief Lok Man Singh Karki at the Parliament Secretariat.

Representatives of 13 student unions met Deuba at his residence this morning and urged him to support the motion.

In response, Deuba expressed his commitment to play his part in making the state and people’s sovereign rights venerable, according to All Nepal Free Students Union Secretary RC Lamichhane.

Deuba said that he would take the decision after holding consultations with the party leaders.

The students are set to hold a demonstration at New Baneshwor today as part of a pressure campaign for impeachment of the Chief of the anti-graft constitutional body.
