Students, cops clash
Kathmandu, August 10:
Protesting against the Royal Commission for Corruption Control (RCCC) jailing former Prime Minister, Sher Bahadur Deuba, students of the Shankar Dev Campus burnt tyres in Putalisadak today and stoned the police personnel.
The police personnel also hurled stones at the students. A clash ensued between the protesters and the police personnel, but no one was injured. Yesterday, police personnel had entered the college premises and beaten up students.
Accusing the campus chief of allowing police personnel to enter the campus premises, the Free Students’ Union of the campus had padlocked the office of the campus chief yesterday.
The Free Students’ Union said the lockout was lifted in the morning.
Demanding total democracy and a republican set-up, the students shouted slogans against monarchy.
