Students express emotions on earthquake through art

Kathmandu, April 18

More than 100 students recently expressed their emotions on the devastation caused by the earthquake of April 25, 2015 at Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO world heritage site through an art competition organised by Bhimsensthan-based The Rolling Stones School.

A total of 177 students, aged between six and 14 years from around two dozen schools of Kathmandu Valley, who are currently residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City ward no 12, 13, 19, 20, 21 and 23 had participated in the programme.

Ritu Rajopadhaya from AVM School stood first among students from grade V to VIII. Similarly, Richard Shrestha of The Rolling Stones School stood second while Rita Maharjan of Jagat Sundar School and Lumana Tuladhar of Whitefield School stood third and fourth in the competition respectively.

Likewise, students of The Rolling Stones School stood first, second and third in the competition among students from grade I to V.

Unisha Karki, Sujata Shrestha and Samikshya Gautam stood first, second and third in the competition respectively. Sapana Tamrakar from Shree Kumari School stood fourth.

Senior artists Kiran Manandhar, Kishor Joshi and Rajaram KC were in the jury. The winners were awarded with certificates.
