Students run riot; action demanded

Kathmandu, July 17:

The Employees’ Association, Employees’ Union and Employees’ Organisation of the Council of Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) today demanded immediate action against students responsible for manhandling their members, issuing death threats and vandalising the CTEVT offices yesterday.

The employees also threatened to stall all activities of the CTEVT if the government fails to take action against the students. The employees will organise a sit-in programme to protest the incident.

Condemning the incident, the employees said an investigation committee should be formed and strong action should be taken against the culprits. The students had gone on the rampage at the offices demanding higher study courses even as the government had already formed a high level task force to look into the matter.
