Students’ stir withdrawn

Kathmandu, November 27:

The five of the eight student union’s alliance today withdrew their protest plan following the assurance from Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to fulfill their demands in next three days.

However, three major student unions, including Nepal Students’ Union, All Nepal National Free Students’ Union and All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union- Revolutionary did not attend the meet.

The students had been agitating demanding that the government adjust the price of petroleum products with change in international market and slash transport fare.

ANNFSU president Ram Kumari Jhakri said her

union would now lead the students’ movement against the atrocities of the Maoist organisations that were attacking the leaders and cadres of her union at different parts of the country.
