Subsidised kerosene sale on

Kathmandu, January 26:

The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has begun selling kerosene at a subsidised rate for the backward community, victims of conflict and labourers through its distributors and the Nepal Food Corporation in various parts of the valley from today.

Likewise, sale of kerosene at a concession rate for students in Kathmandu began today.

People from the backward community, victims of conflict and labourers will get kerosene at Rs 30 per litre while students will get it at Rs 25.20 per litre. People from the backward community, victims of conflict and labourers entitled to subsidised kerosene will get five litres per family in the urban areas and two litres per family in the villages while students will also receive the same quantity of kerosene on submission of their identity cards of higher secondary school, college, campus or university.

The above provision was made in pursuance to the recent decision of the government in this connection. Meanwhile, five central teams left for the five development regions of the country today to make necessary arrangements to provide the kerosene of subsidised and special concession rate in a systemic manner in the development regions.

The teams will work in coordination with the concerned chief district officers, public interest protection forum, the consumers’ forums, the department of commerce offices and the cottage and small industry development offices, says a statement issued by the NOC today.
