Sushil Koirala assures 'full support' to new PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala said he would provide full support to the newly elected Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Emerging from the CA building after the election of the new Prime Minister at the Legislature-Parliament, the outgoing Prime Minister and NC President Koirala said his defeat in the PM's election was a democratic practice.

"I have faced many political ups and downs, so the victory and defeat in the multiparty democracy is normal," he said.

Similarly, he said he was proud of his participation in the PM's election as per the democratic system. He made it clear that the "gentlemen's agreement" and the 16-point agreement among the political parties were not violated. In politics, all should be honest, added the former PM.

In a question on what would be his party's role in the changed context, Koirala, who is also the parliamentary party leader of the NC, said the party will discuss on it and the agitation in Madhes needs to come to an end.

According to him, dialogues have been initiated and it should be continued for resolving the Madhes unrest.
