Suspects held two weeks after robbery

KATHMANDU: Police on Tuesday arrested three suspected robbers, and seized booty and two motorcycles that they used for robbery.

The suspects have been identified as Jit Lal Tamang (28), Lal Kaji Tamang (27) and Ram Kumar Tamang (29) of Mankha-5, Sindhupalchok. Jit Lal and Lal Kaji are currently residing in Golfutar, and Ram Kumar in Kapan on the outskirts of Kathmandu.

According to police, a gang of motorcycle-borne robbers had attacked one Ram Kumar Moktan with a rod and helmet in Tarakeshwor Municipality-20 and robbed him Rs 3,36,000 in cash, six smartphones and other items on February 28.

Police rounded up the trio from Chabahil of Kathmandu today in possession of the two motorcycles used in robbery. Also, they seized Rs 81,000 and several smartphones from the suspects' possession.

The trio have been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range for further action.
