Bunking college classes has always been the in thing. It’s no different with valley teens. A number of college-going students can be seen having a good time with friends in cafes and theatres.

According to colleges, Plus Two students are the ones who bunk most classes.

Students leave home for college in the morning, but instead head to other places, said Lok Bahadur Bhandari, managing director of Xavier International College. Such cases come to light only when colleges enquire the parents after a student’s regular absence. In most cases parents are ignorant about their wandering wards.

Daily 10 to 15 per cent of students are absent from classes, say colleges.

Surendra Shrestha, chairperson of Nobel Academy, said the classes always resume with certain per cent of absentees. Although there is a rule of minimum 80 per cent attendance, colleges are unable to enforce it, as most students don’t show up that often.

Lalit Thapa, a staffer of Gopi Krishna Movies said morning shows are filled with students. The number gets even higher on Fridays.

Prem Shrestha of Barahi Movies said 50 per cent discount on tickets during morning shows is another reason why students flock theatres at that hour.
