Tempo entrepreneurs resume stir

KATHMANDU: In order to exert pressure on the government to fulfil their demands, Supreme Federation of Nepal National Transport Entrepreneurs (SFNNTE), an organisation of tempo entrepreneurs, said that it would gherao the Transport Management Office, Ekantakuna from 6 am tomorrow.

“Until and unless the government addresses our problem, we’re not going to roll back our protest programme,” said Ram Kumar Blon, coordinator of ad-hoc struggle committee formed by the tempo entrepreneurs. He said that they had locked the office of the director general of the Department of Transport Management for more than five hours today. “After he expressed his commitment that he would write to the Transport Management Office asking the latter not to implement the decision of phasing out three-wheeler gas tempos, we set him free,” Blon said. As part of their protest, around 450 three-wheelers took part in a rally today.

SFNNTE has been organising protest programmes against the decision to phase out LPG run three wheelers.
