Terrorist activities biggest security challenge, says PM

Kathmandu, April 12

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today said terrorist activities were the biggest security challenge to the country.

Addressing the Nepali Army officer cadet training in Kharipati, Bhaktapur, the prime minister said terrorist activities posed a serious threat to peace and security, economy and social harmony.

“Violent activities of extremist elements and international terrorist groups, and ethnic and regional conflicts are real challenges,” Prime Minister Oli said, adding that the security agencies should always remain prepared to deal with such challenges.

PM Oli  also said that another main challenge in the 21st century was cyber security.

The PM stressed on effective coordination among the security agencies to deal with all kinds of security threats. Stating that the political situation in the country was comparatively stable and peaceful, the PM directed security agencies to remain alert.
