Thakur, Yadav meet Koirala to discuss way-out
KATHMANDU: Two top leaders of the United Democratic Madhesi Front on Saturday morning held a meeting with Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala in a bid to find an way-out to the current political crisis facing the nation.
Tarai Madhes Democratic Party Chairman Mahantha Thakur and Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav, among others, had reached Koirala's residence in Maharajgunj this morning to discuss the ongoing political tension and a peaceful solution to it.
During the meeting, they agreed to give a solution to the current political problems at the earliest.
The NC had requested the Madhesi leaders to cooperate with the government in endorsing the Constitution Amendment Bill as it could become a basis for addressing their demands.
The UDMF leaders, however, were adamant that the Bill failed to address their concerns.
They had also demanded the main opposition party's clear views on demarcation of federal provinces.
On Friday, the protesting alliance had announced new protest programmes claiming that there was no any meaning of holding talks with the government and the major political parties including the NC after the government tabled the Constitution Amendment Bill ignoring the UDMF demands.
