Thapa leaves for Asian ministers’ meet in India

Minister of Information and Communications Kamal Thapa left for New Delhi today in connection with participation in the second meeting of the information and communication ministers of Asian countries to be held from January 13 in Hyderabad, India.
Talking to journalists at the airport, Thapa said the Hyderabad meet will review the implementation of decisions taken by a meeting held in Seoul, South Korea in May and June, 2002.
The Hyderabad meeting will hold discussions on matters of common concern for Asian countries at international forum and work out an action plan on the agenda approved by the recent Geneva conference on information society.
He said the meeting will discuss the benefits for Asian countries from the progress made in the information and communication technology.
The meeting will be beneficial for reducing the gap between rich and poor countries, he added.
Present at the airport to see the minister off were secretary at the ministry of information and communications Mukund Sharma Poudel and leaders and workers of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party.
