Thapa stresses to pass medical education amendment bill

BHAKTAPUR: Former Health Minister and Nepali Congress leader Gagan Thapa has called for endorsing the Medical Education Amendment Bill as soon as possible.

Speaking at a programme organised to mark the 10th memorial day of NC leader Shyam Bahadur Karki in the Capital today, Thapa shared that they were working to pass the report regarding the Bill, recommended by the Kedar Bhakta Mathema led team.

He added that Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba himself was paying attention to pass the bill even to end the hunger strike of Dr Govinda KC, the senior orthopaedic surgeon at the Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.

The veteran surgeon is on his 11th fast-unto-death at the Hospital for the past 13 days demanding passage of the bill immediately.
