Tharuhat/Tharuwan Committee forms panel for talks preparation

KATHMANDU: The Tharuhat/Tharuwan Joint Struggle Committee, one of the major protesting groups in the Tarai region, has hinted that it is ready for talks.

The Committee formed a three-member team on Saturday β€œto create an environment and pile pressures for the talks,” Tharuhat Tarai Party-Nepal senior leader Gopal Dahit said.

The team includes Tharu leaders Aman Lal Modi, Raj Kumar Lekhi and Min Raj Chaudhary.

Dahit, however, commented that no positive development was witnessed yet, except postponement of the voting procedures at the Constituent Assembly (CA).

The leader informed that the task force would prepare for talks on the basis of a seven-point letter earlier submitted to the government by the Struggle Committee.

Meanwhile, top leaders of three major parties – Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist – are said to sit for a meeting this evening to discuss next political course.
