Three alleged longtime drug smugglers nabbed
KATHMANDU: Police said they recently arrested three persons in possession of opium and hashish.
A special team deployed from the Narcotics Control Bureau of Nepal Police had arrested 55-year-old Indra Bahadur Karki, a permanent resident of Manahari-3 of Makawanpur district, on May 19 from Balkhu, KMC-14.
Police seized one kg opium, allegedly being smuggled to India, from him.
The haul was worth Rs 150,000, according to police.
Karki, who according to police was involved in transactions of opium, hashish and marijuana for a long time, was in the NCB's wanted list.
Meanwhile, police arrested two persons from Kalanki, KMC-14 on the same day.
Dhan Bahadur Tamang (33) and Rahul Tamang (25), permanent residents of Bhumesthan-2 of Dhading district, were arrested in possession of seven kg hashish.
The drug was hidden in a suitcase.
Police investigations revealed that the duo were involved in drug smuggling upto Hong Kong and Thailand.
Further investigation is underway.
