Three held for selling hooch as popular brands
Kathmandu, May 11:
The Metropolitan Police Crime Division yesterday arrested three persons from Baphal on the charge of producing spurious liquor.
The police also seized chemicals used for producing liquor, liquor bottles and counterfeit stickers of the In-land Revenue Department from the three persons.
A press release issued by the crime division office stated that those arrested include twenty-seven-year-old Sri Krishna Adhikari alias Dhruba of Ramechhap and fourty-four-year-old Jhamka Bahadur Nagarkoti and twenty-one-year-old Sabin Nagarkoti of Makawanpur.
A team of police seized bottled liquor branded as Signature, Blue Riband, Royal Stag and Khukuri Rum, besides empty bottles, the The Metropolitan Police Crime Division said, adding that police also seized red and blue stickers of the Inland Revenue Department and the machines to seal bottles.
The police said the culprits were selling spurious liquor on the outskirts of the Kathmandu valley and the adjoining districts.
