KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 20

Police today arrested three Indian nationals from the arrival tunnel gate of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in possession of 11.27 kilogrammes of illegal cannabis.

According to Abhi Narayan Kafle, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and spokesperson for Nepal Police, the arrested individuals have been identified as Samina Akhtar Beg Mirza, 43; Mohammad Junaid, 24; and Afsana Amir Hussain Sheikh.

A joint team from the TIA Security Office and the Narcotics Control Bureau apprehended Mohammad Junaid and Samina Akhtar Beg Mirza with approximately 3.87 kilogrammes of the narcotic substance, DIG Kafle informed. Likewise, police arrested Afsana Amir Hussain Sheikh in possession of 7.4 kilogrammes of the illegal substance, he added.

The suspects have been handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau for further investigation and legal proceedings, police said.
