KATHMANDU, APRIL 24
Police have arrested three inmates who had escaped from Central Jail, Sundhara, during the GenZ protests on Bhadra 23 and 24 last year.
The arrests were made public on Thursday, according to Superintendent of Police Rameshwar Karki, spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office.
Those arrested have been identified as:
Binod Kumar, 36, of Garhwa Rural Municipality-1, Dang – serving one year and three months in a drug trafficking case
Prem Tamang, 33, of Likhu Rural Municipality-5, Dhobi, Ramechhap – convicted to 25 years for culpable homicide and robbery
Navaraj Thapa, 29, of Panchakanya Rural Municipality-9, Nuwakot – held in custody pending trial in a theft case
"Acting on a tip-off that the escapees were hiding in various areas of Kathmandu, our team successfully arrested them," SP Karki said.
All three were sent back to Central Jail at Jaganathdeval, Sundhara, on the same day.
