Kathmandu, March 8:

Police today released three engineering students who were detained yesterday on charge of vandalising college property. The campus administration and students agreed to solve their problems through dialogues. Three students — Suraj Gurung, Subash Chandra Chamling and Badri Raj Bhandari — were arrested from campus premises for vandalising college property and damaging the campus chief’s vehicle. Jagadish Nepal, a student of Thapathali Campus, Institute of Engineering said the administration agreed to hold dialogues to fulfil their three-point demand. “The campus chief has agreed to hold a meeting tomorrow,” said Nepal. The students demanded that an investigation committee be formed, the examination papers be rechecked and detained students be released at the earliest. The students are staging protests since Sunday against the high failure in Diploma-level Computer and Electronics (second year, second semester) examination.
