Trade union members clash

KATHMANDU:

The management of Hotel Yak and Yeti and Casino Royale witnessed tense moments on Monday when rival trade unions clashed over internal matters of the company. It has been learnt that the hotel had cut off water supply to the casino on Sunday for non-payment of water bills adding up to Rs 80 million.

The Maoist-affiliated All Nepal Trade Union Federation (ANTUF) had closed the casino backing the hotel management on Sunday. On Monday, UML-affiliated trade union clashed with ANTUF in support of the casino management, demanding that the casino be opened.

This was followed by skirmishes with police when the latter intervened in the evening.
