Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police collected Rs 2.66 million in fines over the past 24 hours from motorists violating traffic rules.

According to the Traffic Police Office, 2,015 cases of traffic rule violations were recorded during the period.

The violations included 99 cases of drunk driving, 193 cases of illegal ride-sharing, 133 traffic signal violations and 132 lane discipline breaches.

Similarly, 79 motorists were penalised for honking in restricted areas, 87 for roadside and pavement parking, 139 for overspeeding and 79 for driving on one-way roads. Another 1,164 cases involved other traffic-related offences.
