Transport strike in valley today
KATHMANDU: The National Federation of Transport Entrepreneurs of Nepal, Bagmati Zone Committee, has called a transport bandh tomorrow, demanding security for the transport sector and its employees.
Niratna Newa, committee coordinator, said the bandh was called to press the government to take action against high-handedness against the transport entrepreneurs.
Talking to The Himalayan Times, coordinator Newa said insecurity and impunity was having a negative impact on their business. He asked the government to ensure a secure environment for their business. They are also against unnecessary police interference.
NFTEN today organised a rally to protest the torching of a microbus by the Nepal Students’ Union activists on Monday.
Saroj Sitaula, central treasurer of the federation, demanded compensation for the loss of property caused by the vandalism. He said they handed 10 students caught indulging in arson over to the police.
The vehicle had faced the fury of NSU activists, who were enforcing a chakkajam demanding the arrest of those involved in assaulting their colleagues at White House College.
