Light tremor shakes Kathmandu Valley, epicentre in Nuwakot

KATHMANDU: A tremor was felt in the Kathmandu Valley at 9:07 pm on Thursday evening.

The National Seismological Centre said it was an aftershock of the April 25 earthquake and of local magnitude 4.3 with its epicentre in the neighbouring Nuwakot district.

The coordinates 27.78°N, 85.17°E, provided by the NSC, show that the epicentre was close to Chaturali of Nuwakot, north-west of the Kathmandu Valley. The place lies north of Jeevanpur of Dhading district.

With this, the number of aftershocks of ML 4.0 or above of the April 25 earthquake has reached 330 till this evening.

The last significant aftershock that the NSC recorded was of local magnitude 4.0 at 2:59 pm on Wednesday. Its

epicentre was in Sindhupalchok district.
