Tribhuvan University reaches agreement with part-time teachers

KATHMANDU: A seven-point agreement between Tribhuvan University and agitating part-time teachers was reached, on Friday evening.

The Part-Time Teachers Association agreed to withdraw their protest programmes following the agreement.

The agreement allows part time teachers, who have completed at least one year of academic session in their respective colleges affiliated to the University, to be managed on contract basis as per need, credit hours, and seniority.

Similarly, such teachers will get remuneration from their respective institutions and will get opportunities of being involved in the academic activities of TU.

Member of the Association's publicity department, Suresh Bhattarai, said that the agreement mentions the removal of age-limit for part time teachers.

Associate Professor Bishnu Prasad Khanal, on behalf of the University, and Mohan Prasad Ghimire representing the Part-Time Teachers Association had signed the agreement.

There are about 2,000 part-time teachers in the University.
