KATHMANDU, JANUARY 28

Kathmandu Police have arrested two individuals for their alleged involvement in online gambling and betting activities.

The arrested have been identified as Raj Prakash Shrestha (48), originally from Ramechhap, Khandadevi Rural Municipality-9, currently residing in Bafal, Kathmandu, and Harichandra Bhujel (23), originally from Nuwakot, Bidur Municipality-13, currently living in Sohrakhutte, Kathmandu. They have been accused of conducting online gambling and betting activities through a website named Mantra108 and conducting illegal transactions worth over Rs 24 million.

Acting on a tip-off about illegal activities such as online gambling, cryptocurrency trading, and money collection through betting applications, a team of police deployed from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku arrested the duo.

During the raid, the police also seized Rs 90,000 in cash, 4 mobile phones, 1 computer CPU, 59 SIM cards, 27 ATM cards, and 7 checkbooks.

The suspects have been handed over to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, for further investigation and legal action.

Engaging in or promoting online gambling are illegal and punishable under Nepali law.
