KATHMANDU, JANUARY 28

Four persons have been arrested on the charge of defrauding people by promising to send them to various countries for foreign employment with attractive salary packages.

The arrested have been identified as Sunil Dasaudi (25), originally from Salyan, Chhareshwari Rural Municipality-6, currently residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14; Vikash Dawadi (31), from Kavrepalanchok, Panchkhal Municipality-5, currently living in Lalitpur Mahalaxmi Municipality-5; Surendra Vik (37), from Gorkha, Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality-7, currently residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16; and Vishakha Paudel (24), from Kathmandu, Gokarneshwar Municipality-8. The have been accused of allegedly taking large sums of money from victims before cutting off all contact.

The arrests were made by the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, following complaints from victims who claimed they were deceived by the suspects. The accused had promised to arrange employment opportunities abroad but failed to deliver on their promises.

Among the arrested, Sunil Dasaudi allegedly took Rs 2,238,000 from one victim, promising to send them to Serbia.

Similarly, Vikash Dawadi took Rs 300,000 from two victims, claiming he would send them to Japan. Surendra Vik took Rs 9,754,000 from one victim, promising to send them to the United States. Meanwhile, Vishakha Paudel took Rs 160,000 from one victim, assuring them of employment in Kuwait.

The suspects were arrested from various locations:

Sunil was arrested from Teku, Kathmandu while Surendra was arrested from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14, Vishakha was arrested from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-12 on Sunday. Likewise, Vikash was arrested from Lalitpur Mahalaxmi Municipality-5 on Monday.

Sunil, Vikash, and Vishakha have been handed over to the Department of Foreign Employment, Tahachal, Kathmandu, for further investigation and necessary action, while Surendra has been sent to the District Police Range, Kathmandu.

Earlier various Nepali embassy including Nepali embassy in Bangkok had issued press releases urging public to remain vigilant and verify the authenticity of agencies or individuals offering foreign employment opportunities to avoid falling victim to such scams.
