KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 23

Police have arrested two individuals and seized a cache of weapons from a car wash parking lot in Kharibot, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16.

The arrested have been identified as Hirabahadur Magar, 30, of Lolang in Udayapur Gadhi–8 and currently living in Tarkeshwor–5, and Laxman Shrestha, 28, of Manthali Municipality in Ramechhap, currently residing in Bohoretar, Kathmandu–16.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team from the Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari, and Balaju Police Circle searched a taxi (Ba Pra 01–002 Pa 6449) parked at the site.

During the search, police discovered seven pistols, six magazines and 33 rounds of SLR rifle ammunition hidden inside the trunk.

Magar was arrested on Sunday and Shrestha on Monday. Police also seized a walkie-talkie battery and other items.

Authorities said further investigation into the origin and intended use of the weapons is underway.
