Two Jumla youth charged with stealing co-operative money

KATHMANDU: Two youths have been arrested on charge of stealing co-operative money from Kathmandu recently, police said.

Police team deployed from the Metropolitan Crime Division, Teku arrested 22-year-old Dilli Budh Thapa and 18-year-old Madhav Bista, both hailing from Patmara-9 in Jumla district.

Earlier, the suspects allegedly barged into the Mega Dream Credit and Co-operative at Machhapokhari in Balaju, KMC-16 around 11:00 pm on May 16 and decamped with Rs 700,000 before breaking CCTV camera, police said.

Police apprehended the duo with remaining cash of Rs 300,485 along with a pair of jeans, black jacket and two iron rods used in the crime. The duo confessed to their crime at the MCD.

Meanwhile, the suspected duo have been sent to Metropolitan Police Circle, Balaju for further investigation and action today itself.

They were arrested after police had intensified a search operation for serial thieves, who were involved in stealing money from co-operatives and financial institutions at nights, after damaging CCTV cameras in assorted locations in the Valley of late.
