Two kidnappers killed in police firing

KATHMANDU: Two persons involved in the kidnapping and murder of a boy in Kathmandu have been killed in police firing.

Acting on a tip-off that the kidnappers -- Ajay Tamang (23) and Gopal Tamang (22) -- had fled to Suryabinayak after murdering the child, police initiated a massive manhunt. The Tamang duo opened fire at the cops and were killed in a gunfight.

Nishan Khadka (11) was abducted from Kandaghari in Kageshwari Manohara Municipality of Kathmandu district on Sunday.

According to Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range, the abductors had demanded Rs 4 million from Nishan's parents as ransom for his release.

The kidnapped child was found dead in Bhaktapur around noon today. He lived with his mother in Kathmandu while his father is abroad for employment.
