Two killed in Kathmandu road accidents

KATHMANDU: Two persons died and one sustained serious injuries in two road accidents at assorted locations of Kathmandu Valley on Monday.

Police said 26-year-old scooter rider Saroj Chand of Naya Baneshwor, KMC-34 and 42-year-old motorcyclist Raju Nakarmi of Satungul in Chandragiri Municipality were killed in different mishaps.

Chand, while riding the scooter (Ba 60 Pa 3862), was hit by a tripper (Ba 4 Kha 2907) at Satikhel Pharping of Dakshinkali Municipality-6. He had died on his way to the nearby Pharping-based Manmohan Hospital, added police.

Meanwhile, pillion-rider 26-year-old Bipana Shakya has been sent with critical injuries to the Bir Hospital for treatment.

In another accident at Kalanki Chok of KMC-14 this afternoon, Raju Nakarmi, rider of the bike (Ba 66 Pa 1015) died after his two-wheeler hit an Indian truck (HR 55 M 4662) from behind.

Seriously injured Nakarmi of Satungal in Chandragiri Municipality on the western outskirts of Kathmandu had succumbed to injuries at the Sahid Memorial Hospital in Kalanki.

Meanwhile, police have impounded the vehicle and rounded its driver for further investigation and looking into both the cases.
