Oli adds two more ministries in his jumbo Council

KATHMANDU: A day after the fourth expansion of his Council of Ministers along with the split of two ministries and addition of a new one,  Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Friday evening added two more ministries -- splitting Ministry of Commerce and Supplies and adding Livestock Development Ministry  --  and allocated new portfolios to his cabinet colleagues.

Now, with the decision to split the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies, UCPN-Maoist's Ganesh Man Pun is restricted to the Commerce portfolio only, while the Supplies has been awarded to Rastriya Prajatantra Party's Deepak Bohora, who was inducted as the Minister for Labour and Environment yesterday.  Prime Minister Oli allocated the Livestock Development Ministry to CPN-UML's Shanta Manawi, who remained as a minister without portfolio till she was handed over the Ministry for Peace and Reconstruction yesterday.

Meanwhile, Nepal Pariwar Dal's Eknath Dhakal, who took the oath of office and secrecy as the minister without portfolio yesterday, has been handed over the charge of Ministry for Peace and Reconstruction, which, for record, remained with Manawi for a day only.

With the consent of Cabinet meeting, Oli on Thursday had split Ministry for Health and Population, and Ministry for Science, Technology and Environment in order to create Ministry for Health, Ministry for Population and Environment, and Ministry for Science and Technology.

With six Deputy Prime Ministers on board, the Oli Cabinet is 34 strong -- the third largest in the history of Nepal. Besides 28 ministers, there are four state ministers and two assistant ministers in the jumbo Council of Ministers.
