UCPN-Maoist expels four leaders loyal to Baburam Bhattarai, seeks clarification from other dissidents
KATHMANDU: UCPN-Maoist on Wednesday decided to expel four leaders loyal to Baburam Bhattarai from the party on disciplinary grounds and seek clarification from 41 others who registered their dissident views yesterday, clearly indicating that they were quitting the party sooner than later.
A meeting of the Maoist party's Standing Committee was held at party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal's residence in Lazimpat this morning to take the decision to this effect.
Those expelled from the party are Ram Chandra Jha, Ram Kumar Sharma, Ram Rijhan Yadav and Mahendra Paswan.
Earlier, the party had sought clarification from the four leaders and Prabhu Saha over their activities against the party interests and their allegiance to Bhattarai who severed ties with the party on September 20 and started campaigning for the formation of a new political party.
Saha, who announced to launch struggle remaining within the party, however has been spared from the action.
Today's meeting decided to seek clarification from 41 dissident leaders, who are among the 45 who lodged their differing views at the party's headquarters yesterday, within five days, Chudamani Khadka, a close aide of Chairman Dahal told THT Online.
The four leaders expelled today were also among the ones signing the differing view submitted to the party headquarters yesterday.
As many as 45 leaders, including Devendra Paudel and Bhattarai's wife Hisila Yami, had written to the party's leadership yesterday formally announcing that they would now be a part of the campaign to form a new alternative political force.
Some leaders including Yami have been publicly stating that they are no more with the Maoist party.
The dissident leaders include Devendra Paudel, Ganga Narayan Shrestha, Rajendra Kumar Kiranti, Swanam Sathi, Nawaraj Subedi, Chandra Bahadur Shah, Bhim Prasad Gautam, Ramesh Sigdel, Ram Bahadur Bohora, Saraswati Chaudhary, Arvinda Saha, Ram Chandra Bhattarai, Kalamudding Rain, Nandan Kumar Dutta, Pramod Narayan Yadav, Ramesh Ranjan Jha, Kumar Paudel, Ram Lautan Tiwari, Sushil Sipali, Ranjit Patel, Bednidhi Adhikari , Krishna Sharma, Sanam Singh Syantan, Hisila Yami, Kalpana Dhamala, Devendra Parajuli, Khim Lal Devkota, Bishnu Hari Sharma, Kamal Khanal, Yamuna Bhusal, Dr. Bharat Lamichhane, Chinak Kurmi, Raj Kishor Yadav, Ghanashyam Yadav, Baliram Saha, Ambika Thapa, Kalpana Subedi, Balawti Sharma, Mahendra Shrestha, Lila Bhandari, and Sarun Batha Magar.
