KATHMANDU: The second phase of the Maoist protest programme for civilian supremacy continued with much fanfare on Friday.

They have been staging a gherao programme around the Singha Durbar area especially in the three main gates of Singha Durbar. The gherao programme is scheduled from 8am to 2pm. After the gherao programme they would organise a rally and hold a janasabha in Brikutimandap.

Earlier there were clashes at Babarmahal area which left at least 60 agitators including several members of the Constituent Assembly and a few policemen injured during the protest on Thursday.

Home Minister Bhim Rawal requested the security personnel to remain calm during the protest. He also said that they ha d deployed heavy security in the protest areas to stop any untoward incident.

However, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has assured of finding a solution to the ongoing crisis in the country through talks.
