KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition partner CPN-UML has called a National Cadre Meeting to discuss latest political developments after promulgation of the new Constitution in the nation.

A meeting of the party’s standing committee held on Thursday called the national gathering on September 29, party General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel said in a statement after the meeting.

Pokhrel has called sitting and former lawmakers of the party, central leaders of the sister organisations and central to district level leaders to attend the gathering.

The party has also decided to mobilise its leaders and cadres in order to clarify on people’s rights included in the new Constitution and wipe out rumours spread by some parties.

The party will organise various interactions, seminars, tea parties and mass meetings with other parties also for the end, Pokhrel added.

Meanwhile, the party said it would take diplomatic initiatives to generate international support for the new Constitution while standing strong for sovereignty, national integrity and basic interests of the nation.

The party has called protesting Madhes-centric parties to stop protests and come to the negotiating table to get their issues addressed.
