KATHMANDU, JULY 21
The meeting, held at the party headquarters in Chyasal, Lalitpur, was chaired by Prime Minister and Party Chairperson KP Sharma Oli. On the first day, 49 central committee members presented their views.
According to Rajendra Gautam, Chief of the UML Publicity Department, members deliberated on two key documents: the statute amendment report presented by Vice-Chair Bishnu Prasad Paudel, and the organizational proposal report presented by General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel. Both reports are to be submitted at the party's upcoming Second Statute General Convention.
Gautam further noted that the 49 speakers represented Gandaki Province, Madhesh Province, Kathmandu Valley Special Province, and the Liaison Coordination Committee. A majority of members voiced support for the proposed statute amendment, which had earlier been unanimously endorsed by both the party secretariat and the Politburo.
The meeting also discussed the renewal of party membership by former President Bidya Devi Bhandari. Each speaker was allotted three minutes to share their views.
To document the discussions, a committee has been formed under the coordination of Politburo member Surya Thapa, with central members Bishnu Rijal and Niraj Acharya serving as members.
The meeting is scheduled to reconvene tomorrow at 11:00 AM.
