UML for high-level panel to probe blasts
Kathmandu, September 4:
The CPN-UML today demanded the formation of a high-level all-party governmental committee to probe into Sunday’s triple bomb blasts that killed two persons.
The party has also formed a team to suggest probable candidates for the upcoming constituent assembly elections scheduled for November 22.
The demand for the formation of an all-party governmental committee had come from senior leaders. The CPN-UML is the first party which has demanded high-level committee to unearth the plot.
All the political parties have flayed the blasts as a possible ploy to scuttle election with some parties, including ministers, pointing at the Royal Palace. The CPN-UML has also demanded an all-party meet soon to discuss the latest conspiracy.
The party has also said that the political parties which are issuing statements against the election should make it a point to refrain from doing so at a time when incidents like blasts have overtaken the events.
The standing committee has, meanwhile, named Amrit Kumar Bohora to suggest probable candidates with at least one woman from every constituency of the country.
However, the party leadership has not set any deadline by which the Bohora committee will have to submit names to the central leadership. The candidates will, however, be finally picked up by the Parliamentary Board. The members of the Bohora committee are Bharat Mohan Adhikari, Ishwar Pokharel, Yuvraj Gyawali, Ashok Rai, Bisnu Paudel, Asta Laxmi Shakya, Shata Manavi and Raghu Vir Mahaseth.
NC has already formed a team to suggest probable candidates by September 27.
